What we treat
Methamphetamine addiction
Methamphetamine is harder to hide than most substances, and families usually arrive here having already seen a great deal. If you have been managing days without sleep and a person who does not sound like themselves, you are not overreacting.
What it looks like
Long stretches awake, then a crash that can last for days. Weight that keeps coming off. Suspicion or paranoia that does not respond to reassurance, and sometimes a version of the person that is frightening to be around. In the flat period after a run, the low is deep enough that using again is the fastest way out of it, which is the loop that makes stopping alone so difficult.
What helps
The first days are about sleep, food, and safety, with medical assessment when psychiatric symptoms need attention. Structured therapy addresses patterns of use and the situations that make returning to it more likely. Recovery varies from person to person; mood, sleep, and any continuing psychiatric symptoms need follow-up as treatment progresses.
A private next step
